Frozen meatballs recipe

I like creating budget recipes. My goto for being on a budget is a frozen meatballs recipe. I am always thinking, how can I get creative with the meatball sub as I did with the French Dip Meatball Subs

Meatball sub

I kept seeing all these recipes on Facebook and Pinterest for a meatball sub. Now a good meatball sub is really great but how can I make that classic sub recipe different?

The idea came to me, how about making meatball subs that are taco flavored? You use ground meat with taco seasoning to make tacos, and ground meat is in meatballs, why not?

Taco seasoning packet

How can I get taco flavored meatballs? If I was to use a taco seasoning packet, mix it with water, and then add the frozen meatballs to a slow cooker. The meatballs would cook in the taco seasoning for taco flavoring I wanted to create.

Instead of covering the meatballs in a tomato sauce, how just using the “taco sauce” in the slow cooker. I wanted this sub recipe to be like a taco, and tomato sauce isn’t usually on a taco.

Taco toppings

To complete this meatball sub recipe, you have to use taco toppings. You can get very creative in taco toppings like salsa, black olives, and such. However, I decided just to use basic toppings like shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, onions, and of course cheddar cheese.

These subs really are a great change from Italian meatball subs. The taco seasoning really makes the frozen meatballs taste amazing. I think I have a new dish for Taco Tuesday!
