Unlike last weekend when I was sick, this weekend was also a nonwork weekend. We have been so short-handed at the hospital that I been working every weekend for months. I only got one day off a month, trust me it really wears on you.
It is funny, we are short, but Clinic was not hiring. All due to cut backs. Everyone who works in health care is going through this. I really think why I was sick last weekend. I am basically worn out, so my immune system was low, and I got that sinus/ear infection.
I will admit, I was supposed to work last weekend. This is my real weekend off, but I had someone cover for me. Let’s just say I got tired of being denied when I ask for a weekend off. Which isn’t often, but they let the younger staff take off at will.
I know I get a little at used at work because I actually work and I am a good worker. However, I also need some time for Dee, so I did what they do. I just called a friend up and asked if they wanted overtime, and got them to work my weekend.
In a way, it bit me on the butt because I was sick. So since this is my real weekend off, I am just going to enjoy this weekend. I really should have done some really good cleaning on my apartment.
It does need it, but as I said working so much, I only been doing spot cleaning. It was so nice, spend all day cleaning from top to bottom, or have some fun and relax? I choose to relax. I met a friend for lunch, I went swimming, I even went out for a drive. It was nice.
To end a nice Saturday, I made myself the drink du jour right now, a Moscow Mule. Traditionally, you use a ginger beer to make these drinks, but I am not a beer person. So I know ginger is important in this drink, so I used ginger ale instead, and I liked it! It was a perfect end cap to a nice day out in the sun.
- 2 oz vodka
- 1 oz lime juice from 4 sweet limes
- 3-4 strawberries sliced
- ginger ale
- In a glass, put the strawberries and lime juice in it. Muddle the strawberries with the lime juice. To muddle, you mixing and grinding the strawberries together to make a pulp.
- Next add the ice to the glass, and add the vodka.
- Finally, add the ginger ale, garnish with a strawberry and mint maybe, and the ENJOY!
