Mermaid Summer

I like mermaids. I like water, ocean, and the beach. Mermaids are the mythical creature I really love.

This summer I think the trend is mermaids. I saw a few posts hinting it is a mermaid summer. So we will see.

Fun Summer Cocktail

Last year it I did Unicorn Kisses Cocktail {Whimsical And Purple Cocktail}. This year I wanted another fun summer cocktail recipe. So the mermaid was my inspiration to create something that would be a fun summer cocktail.

Mermaid Dreams Cocktail

Like the Unicorn drink, I knew I wanted to create a shimmery cocktail. So the luster dust was brought out again to be added to give that shimmery liquid look. I knew if I was doing a mermaid drink, blue had to be the primary color.

How can I transform a blue cocktail into the mermaid dreams cocktail? I knew the shimmer was good, but what else can I do to this nautically inspired drink? What about having the rim of the glass sparkle?

Mermaid Dreams Cocktail

Iridescent sugar was the answer to that. So with the blue shimmer and that sparkle on the glass, this mermaid dreams cocktail was taking shape. It still needs a mermaid wow to it.

Coconut Flavor

To create a taste that I felt has a beach taste to it, I went with Hawaiian Punch’s White Water Wave. It is this coconut pineapple-flavored drink. Plus it was white in color so would take the blue luster dust very nicely.

What would pair well with coconut and give this cocktail recipe that mermaid look? Then I spotted pastel pearlized chocolate Sixlets. I thought that is mermaid jewels to me.

Chocolate Pearls

Mermaids wear pearls, right? Plus coconut and chocolate go well together. So I dropped the chocolate pearls into the shot glass.

Something interesting happened that gave this cocktail recipe that mermaid look I wanted. The pastel candy coating on the pearls started to blend in the drink to create a pretty green. It looked like a mermaid’s tail in the glass!

The Mermaid Dreams was created and it was wonderful! A cocktail isn’t a cocktail without alcohol. So I decided to use whipped cream vodka.
