I love the blood orange. Blood orange has this deep wine color to it, plus the citrus has this wine like taste to it. Blood oranges are simply beautiful!

Blood Orange Drink

What type of blood orange drink should I make? I really wanted to make a blood orange drink, mostly because of the pretty wine color. That wine color is perfect for a winter cocktail!

Cocktail With Blood Orange

I saw a segment years ago on a cooking show where they were making a cocktail with blood orange. I thought the wine color of the blood orange was just beautiful. That image of the blood orange cocktail ended up being stuck in the back of my head after that.

Citrus Margarita

Wait! Isn’t margaritas already a citrus margarita? Yes but an orange margarita recipe is more orange than lemon. When you want to make a citrus margarita, depending on what flavor you want to bring out, you use more of that citrus.

Blood Orange Recipe

This blood orange margarita will be my second blood orange recipe to feature blood oranges. The first blood orange recipe was the Orange Snowball Cookies.  Bolthouse Farms now has a blood orange juice, which inspired me to create a blood orange margarita.

I quickly thought that a blood orange drink from Bolthouse Farms would be amazing for a Blood Orange Margarita. I was right, that blood orange juice just really makes this Blood Orange Margarita explode with flavor. Plus it the perfect balance to make an amazing margarita recipe.

Blood Orange Margarita Recipe

Blood Orange Margarita is a citrus margarita. This cocktail with blood orange has a deep wine color that you will love. Try this blood orange drink, you will be glad that you did!

Prep Time 5 minutes

Cook Time 5 minutes

Total Time 10 minutes

Ingredients

• 3 ounces Blood Orange Juice
• 1/2 ounce Lime Juice
• 2 ounces Tequila
• 1 ounce Triple Sec

Instructions

1. Combine all ingredients into an ice filled cocktail shaker and shake for 15 seconds.
2. Strain the cocktail into the glass and ENJOY!

Notes

To salt the rim of the glass: Rub the rim of the glass with an edge of a blood orange slice.  Swirl the rim through a small pile of margarita salt.
