I

 did my very first Facebook Live video on the Seduction in the Kitchen page.  It was nerve-racking and took a lot of courage on my part to do, but I did it. It was very well received.

Actually, I am shaking up so many things on my Facebook page. I am doing what calling strategy scheduling. That means a structured scheduling of posts. I kind of had to since the scheduling tool I loved, went by the wayside. Facebook hates outside tools and shut them down, so I am using the Facebook scheduling but doing it in a strategic way.

Anyway, so I know some may have missed this Facebook Live. Do not worry, it supposedly can be embedded in this post, so I will embed it for you to watch. It is nothing exciting. If you like to know a little about me and how I came up with the name, Seduction in the Kitchen.

No Sugar Added Recipes

I am trying to do more recipes that are naturally sweet. Instead of adding white sugar, I am using honey instead or relying on natural sweetness. I will be the first to admit I am a sugarholic.

I used to add sugar and flavored cream to coffee, and of course sugar to tea. I finally stopped adding sugar to coffee and using just the flavored creamer. I can not do black coffee. I tried and just can’t. Beside. I am rare, I don’t need coffee to operate. I can actually just drink one cup of coffee a month and I am good.

I will let you in on a secret, that is chai tea I am drinking in that cup in the Facebook Live. I have never been a huge caffeine drinker. Even as a kid, I wasn’t into drinking pop.

This strawberry and cream oatmeal, along with Chocolate Chip Fluffernutter Nice Cream, and Honey Roasted Strawberry Cheesecake Smoothie is just the beginning of my no sugar added recipes. No, I will no be doing anything with Splenda. I do not like the artificial taste. I never did. I rather make dishes that are naturally sweet without added sugar.

Strawberries and Cream Oatmeal Recipe

Strawberries and Cream Oatmeal is easy, naturally sweet breakfast to make that uses fresh milk, strawberries and best of all no sugar added!

I make oatmeal different. This I know and mentioned it in my Brown Sugar Cinnamon Oatmeal. What I do differently is I make what  I call a slurry first before I add the oats. A slurry is a solution with either the milk or water before I add the oats.

With this strawberry and cream oatmeal recipe, Doing this slurry with the milk, honey, and strawberries. Actually, creates a natural sweetness. The heat of the milk draws out the sweetness of the strawberries so that when all done, you will not need to add any sugar to it.

Strawberries and Cream Oatmeal

Description

Strawberries and Cream Oatmeal is easy, naturally sweet breakfast to make that uses fresh milk, strawberries and best of all no sugar added!


Ingredients

  • 1 cup 2% Milk
  • 1 teaspoon raw honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon real vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup fresh strawberries (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup instant rolled oats

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan add the milk, honey, and vanilla.
  2. Whisk them together so the honey dissolves in the milk.
  3. Then add the strawberries and let the solution cook over medium heat for about 3 minutes. (You want a very light boil, not a full boil or you can burn the milk)
  4. Add the oats, and stir.
  5. Continue to stir and let the oats cook for another minute.
  6. Take them off the heat, serve it up and ENJOY!

    First, fantastic video! Your personality shone through, and I look forward to seeing more of them! Second, you are WAY too hard on yourself. So what if you’re heavy? That can change! I do have a question though.. Between the Fitbit and the Apple Watch, are they reasonably similar in estimating steps and calorie burn? I started out with a fitbit charge hr, then I moved on to a Fitbit blaze. I did consider an Apple Watch, but I wanted a fitness tracker first and smart watch second, and I was concerned about the Apple Watch and its fitness chops. Would you mind sharing your experience on that topic? I know it’s totally unrelated to your blog, but I would really appreciate it.

      I am thinking about doing more. Everyone is saying about not being hard on myself. Have to see. I like both. I have the fitbit2. I like it, but admit I kind of like the watch more. Both have something that the other doesn’t have. I like that can press the watch and see my heart rate, calories burned. etc at any time. With Fitbit I have, I got go to my phone to see it. Plus there are apps on the watch that when I been sitting too long it tells me to stand, move, even breathe. I can also do fitness programs on it as well. Which I like and monitors all that. Breathe is more so can remember to relax. Both are nice but like the watch a little more only because more “visual”

        I like the blaze for those same reasons. I can see my steps and heat rate with a flick of the wrist. The blaze buzzes at ten til the hour from 7a to 6p to let me know if I haven’t hit 250 steps in that hour, which I do appreciate. I had lusted for the Apple Watch, but it seemed like a serious PITA to charge it every night. Maybe when it’s time to upgrade, I will revisit the decision.

    Fruits contains plenty of natural sugars so why add some more… You are totally right. This oatmeal looks delicious!

  • I cannot wait for fresh berry season. It has been so rainy and cold here so far, not sure what is going to happen with the farmer’s and their crops. This is a great and delicious way to get your day started.

    My boyfriend loves oatmeal, and his favorite are the fruit and cream instant sugar free ones (ugh). I’ll have to make this special for him, he’s a type-1 diabetic, so he will really appreciate this.
