Italian Sausage Lentil Soup is a similar soup that was in the Buca di Beppo Cookbook. It is full of good Italian flavor and will warm you up on a chilly day. A recipe from Seduction in the Kitchen.
I knew I wanted to post a recipe today. It is Saturday and the weekends is good traffic days for recipes. As I was deciding what should post, Apple Cider Donuts or this Italian Sausage Lentil Soup, I saw something interesting. What was it? That I had already posted 399 posts on Seduction in the Kitchen.
Well, the weather in Cleveland is super yucky, it just a good soup day. That wasn’t the only reason I choose the soup recipe. This soup is special to me. 400 posts is also a special occasion as well. So it seemed fitting to have this soup be the 400th post.
How does a soup become special to someone? Well, when I first moved to Cleveland in 2005, I was a newlywed. My ex was convincing me that I didn’t know how to cook and advised me to go to a library. At the library, I found the Buca di Beppo cookbook. In this cookbook was this lentil soup recipe.
His cousin had taken us to Buca di Beppo’s to celebrate that we had married. I knew my ex loved the food there. So I wanted to really impress him and recreate this recipe in the cookbook. Of course, the idiot refused to try the soup I made. Which he missed out on because it was delicious.
Over the years since then, I have tweaked the soup and it is one my favorites to eat in the colder weather. I personally love to boil the broth down and eat with a real thick broth. I discovered that when I left the soup on too long because of a phone call I took. That oops, turned into a good thing.
Sometimes when I make it, I will add mushrooms. In the photos, there are mushrooms in it. I do eat most what I make for dinner. So this was dinner for me. I took the photo then ate it. So I happened to have the mushrooms, so I threw them in. Plus I really needed to use the mushrooms up.
To answer the question why this soup is special. It was my first recipe I made as a married woman. this is the first recipe I have tweaked to make it my own. Plus it is one my favorites. So yes it is the perfect 400th post.
Before I forget! I promise the recipe is coming up, I also have another exciting news to tell you. If you look up you will see Flavor Store. I have partnered up with Your Inspiration at Home, which has spices, oils, and vinegars. I am so excited about this. You can see by clicking here. Also, I have the Flavor Stack store which is world spices and a great program that Your Inspiration at Home has. You can see that here. Enough about my store promotion, time for this recipe!
