Chocolate Covered Cherries
My dad loves chocolate covered cherries. In fact, it is Christmas is when we would get him a huge box of chocolate covered cherries from Sarris Chocolate in Canonsburg, Pa.
When comes to Christmas desserts, I always think of chocolate cherries! This chocolate cherry cake takes the beloved chocolate covered cherry and turns it into a cake dessert.
Chocolate Cherry Cake
What is a chocolate cherry loaf? Well, the truth is it just a chocolate cherry cake that has been made in a loaf pan. Think a pound cake but with chocolate and less butter.
Chocolate Cake Mix
Now I could have just made this chocolate cherry cake from scratch. However, I choose to make this Christmas dessert with a chocolate cake mix. The chocolate cake mix really helps simplify making a homemade dessert.
With a few adjustments, this chocolate cake mix is transformed into a wonderful chocolate cherry cake!

Chocolate Cherry Loaf
The Chocolate Cherry loaf is a simple Christmas dessert you can make. This chocolate cherry cake uses a chocolate cake mix to make simple to whip up! If you love chocolate covered cherries this chocolate dessert is perfect for the holidays!
Ingredients
- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 1/4 cup chocolate milk
- 1 (3 oz) box instant vanilla pudding
- 1 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 can (15 oz) dark sweet cherries, drained
- 1 can cream cheese frosting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375F
- Put the cake mix, pudding, water, milk, eggs, and oil in a bowl and mix.
- Fold in the cherries
- Pour the batter into a well-greased loaf pan.
- Bake for about 50 minutes.
- Do a toothpick test to make sure it is done.
- Take out the oven, allow to cool for about 10 minutes, then remove the cake from the pan and cool on a wire rack.
- Spread the frosting on the cake while it is still warm.
- Serve it up and ENJOY!
Notes
If you ice the cake while it is warm it this the frosting and gives a nicer look. Also you can microwave some the frosting so that it is thinner, tint it with food coloring and drizzle it on as I did in my photos.
