Someone asked me recently about what advice I would give to a new blogger. Now I could go with the standards of content is king, quality photos, what plugins to use. Instead, I simply said, “Have A Thick Skin.” The interview person was puzzled as to why I would give that advice. That was until I explained.

Bookies or as they are better known as chocolate chip cookie brownies are the best of two worlds. It is part chocolate chip cookie and part fudge brownie and it is sinfully delicious.

Blogging can get very frustrating. You work your ass off, think you got everything down and you see the little reward and wonder what are you doing wrong. Nothing, it just you been only at it a month.

It takes years to get to where you blog is successful. Anyone tells you you will have 100,000 followers in 30 days is just scamming you to buy their course or eBook. It isn’t reality. Blogging is always changing too.

Food blogging is always changing too. Places you submitted recipes to years ago may no longer be active. A plugin that was the bomb to use 2 years ago hasn’t been updated and it is now defunct. Its constant change and you have to keep up with the changes.

Plus I will be honest there will always be haters. Haters aren’t just people who leave bad comments on your blog. Yes, you will get the comment about how that person doesn’t like an ingredient or the recipe.

Bookies or as they are better known as chocolate chip cookie brownies are the best of two worlds. It is part chocolate chip cookie and part fudge brownie and it is sinfully delicious.

The other haters come from fellow food blog peers. It just like in real life you will find cliques in different circles. There are ones that love to help. Others will ignore you but will call you out if you slip-up in any slightest way. Then their ones feel they are above everyone.  So yes my advice is to have thick skin, food blogging is a roller coaster, just like life is one.

Kudos to the thick skin observation. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been punched in the gut by both readers and fellow bloggers. You would think that food would be a “safe” zone, but it’s not. Maybe I should just curl up on the couch with a plateful of bookies and binge-watch GoT. In fact, that’s exactly what I’ll do.

Can’t go wrong with combining two delicious desserts! If you don’t have a thick skin, at least you can have a plate full of these 🙂

Thank you for sharing this! I know what you mean about blogging, let me just add and say about the haters that they only hate when they have to share their spot on top. I guess you are doing something right. The Bookie looks SO GOOD!!! Will try them for “my daughter”…

Oh I love the look of these and will have to try them. As for food blogging hey your so right it can be an up hill struggle to keep motivated at times but glad to say pon the most part I have only come across supportive bloggers and they so help to keep me motivated, but a thick skin is useful none the less.
