I had received some pears, so I really wanted to make some pear recipes with them. I could do poached pears, but I wanted to make a recipe with pears that would be simple but also tasty.

The idea of doing a pear tart was also a thought. However, in my mind, I thought I could make an apple raisin bread. but make it a pear bread instead.

That is not a bad idea, a pear bread! Pears as I mentioned can easily be substituted in an apple recipe. Pears have this sweetness to them that would be amazing in a simple quick bread recipe. So why not give this pear bread idea a try!

Using the pears in a simple quick bread recipe for apple cinnamon bread worked out great! The pears did give the quick bread recipe a sweeter taste. What makes this pear bread great is that it simply a one-bowl recipe. So it really is a simple quick bread recipe!

Pear Raisin Bread is a simple quick bread recipe. Sweet pears with raisins are what make this a flavorful bread. This pear bread is a great fall recipe you can make for your family!

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 40 minutes
Total Time 50 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter (soften)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup pear (coarsely chopped)
  • 1/3 cup raisins
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and gradually beat in sugar.
  2. Then, beat in eggs, one at a time.
  3. Add the buttermilk to the egg mixture
  4. Combine the flour, salt, baking powder, and spices.
  5. Add the sugar mixture to the flour mixture. Mix till just combined.
  6. Stir in pears, raisins, and vanilla and pour into buttered loaf pan.
  7. Bake at 350F degrees for 1 hour.
  8. Take it out the oven, let cool on a rack, slice it up and ENJOY!

Didn't know what to do with extra pears I had but found this recipe and its a keeper! It was quick to make and the pears and raisins made it moist and just the right amount of sweet! I did add walnuts because I personally like nuts in quick breads.(just my preference, not meaning to change recipe). Took 2 pears to make the full cup. Thanks for a delicious recipe!

pear is one my favorites and i think should be used more in recipes!! This looks yummy!
