Happy Birthday To Me

Well, October 6 is my BIRTHDAY! As I have mentioned in Pumpkin Dump Cake, I have bad birthdays. Truthfully, I did not know how I was going to be the closer my birthday came.

So far not too bad, but the day is still early. I found out my one sister has to work right after my birthday dinner, so she will be in and out very quickly because of that. Trust me she not happy about that.

Happy Birthday Dee

I decided I am not going to let the day get to me. As I said I just have bad birthdays. People forget my birthday all the time and can’t be bothered to stop what they are doing to just celebrate with me.

When I turned 40, all I wanted from my friends was a party. I told them 1 year in advance was just someone please plan me a party. The reason I wanted one was that when turned 30, it was horrible.

When I turned 30, I had just moved to Cleveland, no one knew me. My ex-husband was on call at the hospital, so he gave me my gift a day early: 2 tubes of lipstick. Yes, you are reading that correctly, that was my big gift from my ex-husband for turning 30, lipstick.

You have to remember I was not good enough for him in his mind. He felt I was not pretty and did not know how to put on makeup, his solution buy me Victoria Secrets lipstick.

I think I do a good job on my makeup and I am attractive. That is how an emotional and verbal abuse works sometimes. They make you feel and believe the lies they tell themselves. Anyway, I ended up eating ice cream in the apartment all by myself for my 3oth birthday.

So I wanted someone to make a big deal I was turning 40. No one did. No one could stop what they were doing for one night. I was told that was just born the wrong time of year, everyone felt bad but didn’t stop them from celebrating me turning 40.

Freaky Friday Fall

Freaky Friday: Fall Edition

That is why I wasn’t sure how I would be the closer my birthday approached. Then I had #pumpkinweek and now today Freaky Friday. I put my focus into these blogging events and it really helped me not be down for my upcoming birthday. It is amazing how therapeutic blogging can be.

This is now my 3rd round of Freaky Friday hosted by Michaela from An Affair From The Heart. I really enjoy doing it. I have done: Honey Roasted Strawberry Cheesecake Smoothie for the Spring and Peach Sweet Tea for the Summer edition. So what would I do for the Fall edition?

Marinated Olives With Red Wine Vinaigrette is a tasty and healthy snack to have during a football game or anytime you feel like an olive!

I was assigned the blog A Dish of Daily Life. Michelle always has some the best recipes I have seen, especially her appetizers. I decided I really wanted to make an appetizer this round. I mean after all it is the Fall, it is my birthday and it is Football season. Sounds like perfect reasons to celebrate right?

As I was going through her appetizers, recipes like Roasted Red Pepper Dip, and Sausage Cheese Dip were calling my name to make. When I saw Marinated Olives With Red Wine Vinaigrette I knew that was the recipe I needed to make.

Why make the Marinated Olives With Red Wine Vinaigrette? Well, one I really love olives. I think I may have been Greek in another life the way I really really love to snack on Olives. So why not?

Plus, I have not seen anything that really does showcase the salty little olive in a recipe. Plus I love red wine vinaigrette as well. Heck, I just like vinegar. I think I have a small collection of various types in my cupboards. This Olive recipe just had DEE wrote all over it.

The flavors of the red wine vinegar, with garlic and spices really just make the olives burst with flavor. I could eat the entire bowl of these Marinated Olives watching the Steelers play football on Sunday. While the rest of the crowd munching on chips, give me a bowl of these yummy olives instead.

Happy Happy Birthday to you!! I hope your day was fabulous – my x-husband always forgot my birthday. One year he went out to his car and got the air freshener and gave it to me. Well…. enough of THAT!

Your recipe looks so good! I’ve made marinated mushrooms but never olives. I bet they are just delicious, I can’t wait to give this recipe a try!

I know what that kind of relationship is about. I survived a four year one, lucky enough to find a great man who is patient with my insecurities which linger because of that relationship even after 18 years of marriage. I am so glad that you are out of it and moving on with better things! Blogging is theraputic and even though I am scared to blog about my experiences, your story helps others! And I will help myself to some of these olives too!
