Fresh Salsa

I love a good fresh salsa. Fresh tomatoes, onions cilantro. A garden fresh salsa is amazing in flavor I think. Usually, fresh salsa is also known as a chunky salsa recipe.

Chunky Salsa Recipe

How did I start loving a chunky salsa recipe? My friends took me to try Mexican food at a local place in Cleveland, Ohio. I took one bite of the chunky salsa recipe on the table and that started my love of salsa recipes.

I have since then tried many salsa recipes, but always been a chunky salsa recipe that I prefer. I love the taste of that fresh salsa on a chip.

Salsa Ingredients

Most know that tomatoes and onions are salsa ingredients. To make a good salsa recipe, you need cilantro, lime juice, and of course jalapeño. That combination of vegetables with jalapeño busts with flavor in salsa.

You could blend a basic salsa recipe together for a smooth salsa that almost sauce-like. Or you can make it a chunky salsa recipe! The chunky salsa is also known as a Pico de Gallo salsa, that is the simple salsa I prefer.

Personally, I like calling it chunky salsa recipe then pico de gallo. That is what this simple salsa recipe is, chunks of tomato, onion, cilantro, jalapeños all mixed together with some lime juice.

Can You Freeze Salsa?

One question I get asked is can you freeze salsa? Yes, but only for 6 months. Make sure the bags or containers are airtight. You should still leave the room at the top for the salsa to expand once it freezes.

This is so easy, tasty & fresh! As my usual, I omitted the salt and black pepper. I did add the sugar since there's so little recommended. Don't know if it was needed, but it may have cut some of the acid. I did use a Hungarian wax pepper instead of jalapeño since that was in our garden. 😉 Great recipe!

This salsa is perfect-except for the sugar! It doesn’t need that! ♥️

This isn’t a comment, it’s a question. Your recipe for chunky salsa has sugar as one of the ingredients. What will sugar bring as an ingredient?

Sometimes tomatoes are not sweet, I like a sweet tomato so adding the tiny amount of sugar helps bring the sweet out of the tomato
