We have a variety of Omaha Steaks gift packages to send to you including steaks, seafood, charcuterie, and more. The campaigns vary from gift giving to entertaining for the holidays.
I got a great gift pack from Omaha Steaks, in this gift pack was boneless pork chops. I love to entertain, with this being the holiday season, I love to come up with different appetizers. This gift pack gave me a great idea on an appetizer using the pork chops, let make them in the slow cooker and make it a pulled pork. I have been playing around with an appetizer idea using a tator tot. The pulled pork was perfect for this idea.
I debut this pulled pork appetizer at my evening of cocktails and appetizers I had with my friends and they went crazy for it. The pork chops I used from Omaha Steaks were so tasty and complimented the BBQ sauce so nicely, combined with the smashed tator tot, topped with a little coleslaw, this made for an easy recipe.
I love using my crock pot, and putting the Omaha Steaks, pork chops in the morning, letting them simmer all day helped with the ease of this recipe. Omaha Steaks, made it very easy with the pork because it already trimmed, so you do not have to trim it to cook it. There is so many options with the gift pack, since it had so many different items in it. It included not only the pork chops but:
- Steak burgers
- Filet Mignons
- Strip Steaks
- Chicken Breasts
- Hot Dogs
- Loaded Baked Potatoes
It a great value for the price, and I am able to make so many things with it, including the Filet Mignon With Cranberry Balsamic Reduction and Blue Cheese Butter I made earlier when I first got the gift pack. Trust me my friends really loved that I got this gift pack too, because not only does it have quality meat products, it made for some fine eats as well. This perfect gift to give out, make recipes with it, or keep it all for yourself.
I decided to do all three with the Omaha Gift pack, I kept a few things for myself, I have making recipes with it, and I have given the Hot Dogs out to a friend. I decided to gift her with the hot dogs because, well her daughter was over my place and spotted them in the freezer. She kept saying how those are her favorite, so I decided to given them to her so she can make them for her daughter. Really this gift pack really is the gift that keeps giving and it was well worth getting.
So on to this recipe, why do a pulled pork? Well I admit I like pulled pork, and so do many of my friends, how to do it in appetizer form? The idea of using a tator tot for the base came to me after seeing someone do a loaded tator tot for an appetizer. I wanted to do something similar, but what? Pulled pork just kept echoing in my head. I topped it with a touch of coleslaw because the best pulled pork sandwich I ever had, had a layer of coleslaw on it. The creaminess of the coleslaw compliments the tanginess of the BBQ sauce in the pulled pork. It is a perfect combination.
- 4 boneless Omaha pork chops
- 1 cup of ginger ale
- 1 bottle BBQ sauce 18oz
- 25 frozen tator tots
- 1/4 cup prepared coleslaw
- In a slow cooker add the boneless pork chops, ginger ale, and BBQ sauce. Set on low for 6-8 hours, till the pork chops are tender and can be easily shredded with 2 forks.
- Next bake the tator tots according to the package instructions. After they are done, using the back of a spoon, smash each one.
- Top a little of the pulled pork onto each tator tot.
- Next spoon a little bit of the coleslaw on the pulled pork.
- Then serve it up to your guests and ENJOY!
